University of Hawai`i Federal Credit Union Raises $19,000 to Support Aloha United Way

(Honolulu, HI) – Throughout the pandemic, the University of Hawai`i Federal Credit Union (UHFCU) partnered with Aloha United Way (AUW) to offer support to thousands of local families that have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

One of the ways that UHFCU raised funds for AUW was through sales of custom face masks with inspirational sayings beginning in July 2020.  The response from UHFCU members was overwhelmingly positive.  By the end of the year, over 3,500 masks were sold.  The proceeds, along with generous contributions from UHFCU members, resulted in a total of $19,000 to help over 1,200 individuals and 700 families.

“We believe in and are honored to support AUW’s mission.  As a local organization, we appreciate the challenges our community faces due to the financial strain and uncertainty caused by the pandemic,” remarked UHFCU President and CEO Travis Bow. “We would especially like to recognize our members for their generous support during this period of unprecedented uncertainty.  Credit unions are about people helping people, and we’re proud to truly embody that ideology at a crucial time in Hawai`i’s history.”

In honor of reaching the milestone, UHFCU is now holding a special sale of its limited-run masks on its website at UHFCU.com.  They are available for $7 each or three (3) for $16, with proceeds benefitting AUW.

The UHFCU face masks are stylish, washable, and reusable for practicing healthy habits every day.  The masks use unique, stretchy material to hug your face's curves for more effective filtration while also maximizing comfort – making it easy to wear for long periods.  Each mask also comes with two (2) PM2.5 carbon activated filters for added protection.
