San Diego County CU Encourages Local Youth to Compete in BizKid$ Showcase

SAN DIEGO, Calif., (April 5, 2021) – San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of Southern California’s largest locally-owned financial institutions, is participating in the National Credit Union Foundation Biz Kid$ Showcase. The Biz Kid$ Showcase competition has been built to attract and engage young community members, raise credit union awareness and allow students to continue to be creative in our current virtual world.

Beginning at the state level, students, ages 12 – 18 years old, will participate in three learning modules, each focused on a different aspect of business planning. After completing each module, students will work, either as individuals or teams, to create a business plan. Business plans will be judged by a panel of credit union experts from each state. The top three business plans from California and Nevada will be awarded cash prizes and move on to the national portion of the showcase. At the national level, the top three winners will be awarded additional cash prizes.

“We are excited to participate and encourage our local youth to compete in the Biz Kid$ Showcase to create innovative business ideas to further learn about finances, money and business,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Campbell. “Guiding students to register for this opportunity will help lead them on a path to a successful financial future. We look forward to cheering on all contestants!”

When registering, please make sure to mention SDCCU in the “How did you hear about the Biz Kid$ Showcase” field. Registration for the Biz Kid$ Showcase is open now through April 26. The earlier you register, the more time you have to complete the steps. To register, please visit sdccu.com/bizkids.

SDCCU launched the Biz Kid$ program in partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education and the County of San Diego, in support of Live Well San Diego, in 2015. Biz Kid$ is an award-winning, comprehensive financial literacy program focused on teaching students how to use credit wisely and about the importance of saving, budgeting, investing and giving back to their communities. The Biz Kid$ program and all episodes are based on national standards for financial literacy and entrepreneurship education, and have been mapped to individual state standards.
