MD/DC Credit Union Association Raises Over $25K for CMN Hospitals

COLUMBIA, MD (June 14, 2021) — Credit unions and business partners came together to help raise over $25,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) at the MD|DC Credit Union Association’s Annual Charity Golf Classic. 120 golfers participated in the tournament held June 7 at Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club in Columbia, Maryland. As its charity of choice, the credit union industry has raised more than $150 million for CMN Hospitals over the past 25 years.

“I want to thank our credit unions and business partners for their generous support, in particular event sponsor CUNA Mutual Group and CO-OP Financial Services for its Miracle Match Program,” said John Bratsakis, President/CEO of MD|DC Credit Union Association and Credit Unions for Kids Advisory Board Chair. “By supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the credit union industry is helping families afford access to the specialized care provided by children’s hospitals. It’s a great example of how the collaborative spirit of credit unions has a real impact on communities and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of children facing serious health challenges.”

Money raised will fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care at two local CMN Hospitals – Children’s National in Washington, D.C. and Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore.

“We are incredibly grateful for the credit union industry’s long-term commitment to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” said Meredith Demeria, Associate Director, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “On behalf of our patients and their families, thank you for the unwavering support and for making miracles happen during an incredibly challenging year.”

“We want to thank credit unions and their business partners for their generous support in helping young patients get access to high-quality medical care when they need it most,” said Lindsay Kahler, Associate Director of Development, Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. “We look forward to continuing to work together to build a brighter, more hopeful future for the children we treat and their families.”

More than 60 credit unions and business partners sponsored the 2021 charity golf classic. You can view the complete list of sponsors here.
