Indiana Members Foundation Awards $63,000 in Scholarships and Grants

(Indianapolis, IN, August 20, 2021)  Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members Credit Union, recently awarded $63,000 in scholarships and grants through its Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program, Mike and Marti Ney “People Helping People” Grant, Terry Renick Legacy Golf Grant, and the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant for the Arts Program. 

Indiana Members Foundation awarded the 2021 Scholarship and Grant recipients individually this year at Indiana Members Credit Union’s headquarters. 

The Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program was established to honor Robert E. Martin for more than four decades of dedication and service as a board member of IMCU as well as his commitment to education throughout his career as Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance at Indiana University Purdue-University at Indianapolis (IUPUI).  The scholarships are available to college students that are members of Indiana Members Credit Union.  Applications are accepted annually from January 1 through March 31. 

The following ten recipients each received a $5,000 Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship:

  • Amy Norris, Southport High School/Xavier University

  • Daniel Ehrlich, Park Tudor School/Duke University

  • Jillian Stafford, Roncalli High School/Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis

  • Kaylee Russell, New Palestine High School/Anderson University

  • Logan Reiff, Westfield High School/Indiana University

  • Logan Stephens, Decatur Central High School/Ball State University

  • Nathan Fulton, Fishers High School/Purdue University

  • Olivia Phillips, Hamilton Southeastern High School/Indiana University

  • Rachel Bates, New Palestine High School/Ball State University

  • Satyajit Kulkarni, The Winchester School/Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis

The Mike and Marti Ney “People Helping People” Grant was created to assist schools and community organizations that help children to achieve success in learning.  Mike Ney serves on the Board of Directors at IMCU. 

Four grants were awarded through the Mike and Marti Ney “People Helping People” Grant Program:

  • Charity Church Ministry, Transitional Kindergarten Project - $2,500

  • Early Learning Indiana, Tuition Assistance at Day Early Learning Project - $2,500

  • Fletcher Place Community Center, REACH Early Learning Project - $2,500

  • George Julian Parent Teacher Student Association, The Sensory Room Project - $2,500

Joan Wolfe worked for Indiana Members Credit Union for 27 years and was a huge supporter of Indiana Members Foundation's mission to provide school children with the necessities essential for learning and succeeding in their education.  Joan lost her fight with Cancer in March of 2013, but her fight to help children succeed continues with the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant Program.

The purpose of the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant for the Arts Program is to assist schools and community organizations that help children to achieve success in learning through the arts. 

Two grants were awarded through the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant for the Arts Program to the following organizations:

  • Brownsburg Education Foundation, Specialty Oil Pastels Project - $1,000

  • St. Mary’s Child Center, Studio Arts Support Project - $1,000

The Terry Renick Legacy Golf Grant was established to assist high schools in communities served by IMCU annually with its golf program.  Terry Renick retired from IMCU as the Vice President of Operations after serving 30 years.  The following school received a $1,000 grant for their course green fees, range ball fees, tournament entry fees, golf balls, and travel expenses:

  • Roncalli High School Golf Team - $1,000

Applications for all grants are accepted annually, March 1 through April 15. 

 “We are extremely honored to award these scholarships and grants to these deserving students and organizations,” said Ron Collier, president and CEO of IMCU.  “IMCU was founded on the campus of IUPUI over 60 years ago, and is passionate about supporting the education system and helping our youth succeed.”
