Texas Trust Credit Union Donates More than $20,000 to American Cancer Society

ARLINGTON, Texas – Sept. 1, 2021 – Employees of Texas Trust Credit Union held a Relay for Life walk at the company headquarters, raising more than $20,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Due to local COVID restrictions limiting participation in the community-wide Relay for Life walk, a group of Texas Trust employees organized a private fundraiser. More than 50 people walked together around the credit union’s Arlington campus for three hours to honor and remember loved ones affected by cancer.

The walk was lit up by luminaria representing lives touched by cancer. The Texas Trust Relay Team raised money by soliciting pledges for the walk, selling raffle tickets for various donated prizes, and selling Relay for Life T-shirts that employees have been able to wear to work one day a week.

The relay included music by a popular local DJ, a variety of fun activities for all ages, and carnival-style food.

Employees raised $10,983 and the Texas Trust Gives Foundation matched $10,000 for a total donation of $20,983. The funds will go directly to support research, 24/7 support for cancer patients, and access to lifesaving cancer screenings.

“We didn’t want COVID to be a barrier to the American Cancer Society’s fundraising initiative, so we organized a mini Relay for Life walk,” said Ginia Chapline, COO of Texas Trust Credit Union. “Our employees’ enthusiastic response made the event a success.”
