Cabrillo CU Helps Donate Over 2,000 Pounds of Food for Feds Feed Families Food Drive

San Diego, California – September 3, 2021 - Cabrillo Credit Union participated in the Feds Feed Families food drive for a second consecutive year. Throughout the month of August, Cabrillo members and employees from all four locations contributed 2,364 pounds of food, benefiting the San Diego Food Bank.

In order to collect more donations and make a larger impact, the San Diego Border Patrol Sector collaborated with Cabrillo Credit Union. To support their efforts, Cabrillo Credit Union left food collection boxes at each branch and the administrative office. At the end of August, the Border Patrol Agents picked up boxes filled with food from all four Cabrillo branches.

Feds Feed Families is a government-wide campaign that encourages federal employees to donate food, services, and time to food banks and pantries across the country. This campaign has collected more than 92 million pounds of food since 2009 when Feds Feed Families launched.

This is Cabrillo’s second year participating in the Feds Feed Families food drive, with plans to participate again next year. According to Cabrillo Interim CEO, Peter Sainato, “Being community-minded is a core value of Cabrillo Credit Union. We are proud to give back to the community we serve.”

Cabrillo Credit Union was established in 1955, to serve Border Patrol agents in San Diego. Today it serves as the primary financial institution for those employed by the U.S. Border Patrol and other federal agencies in the San Diego area. Cabrillo Credit Union also serves Sharp HealthCare and is open to anyone who lives or works in San Diego County.

With four branches in the San Diego area, plus access to 30,000 ATMs and 5,600 Shared Branches, Cabrillo Credit Union makes managing your money easy.  Their cutting-edge online & mobile platform gives Cabrillo members 24/7 access to checking balances, paying bills, depositing checks, even performing free inter-institution transactions.
