Hanscom Charitable Foundation Raises Over $40,000 for CU Kids at Heart

Hanscom AFB, MA (Apr. 22, 2022) – One lucky member has won the coveted $20,000 prize in Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation’s annual spring cash raffle, with proceeds benefitting Credit Unions Kids at Heart®.  Leonard Willette’s winning ticket #7111 was drawn April 13, 2022, and the Shirley, Massachusetts resident received his check during a presentation on April 15, 2022.

All of the 3,000 tickets available for this year’s raffle sold out in a record-shattering two weeks, breaking last year’s record by an entire week. Dan Ziniti, Hanscom FCU’s Chief Strategy Officer, and #TeamHanscomFCU raised over $46,000 for CU Kids at Heart’s mission of supporting lifesaving research and were in the top 5 fundraisers for Boston Children’s Hospital. For over 22 years, Hanscom FCU and its Foundation have collaborated closely with Credit Unions Kids at Heart to fund the important work of raising awareness and funding scientific research aimed at preventing, treating, and/or curing pediatric neurological diseases including Moyamoya disease, cerebral palsy, pediatric brain cancer, and pediatric epilepsy and other seizure disorders.

The credit union raises money for CU Kids at Heart through cash raffles such as this one and employee challenges, as well as participation in the iconic Boston Marathon, where #TeamHanscomFCU runners commit to raising funds for a coveted bib. This year, Dan Ziniti ran the Boston Marathon on behalf of his Patient Partner Ryan, whom he’s been partnered with since 2019.

“The member response to our raffle is always incredible,” said Laura Galeski, Hanscom FCU’s Social Responsibility Manager. “We’re so thankful to all of our employees for all of their hard work with this raffle, all of our members for helping to change so many lives, and to CU Kids at Heart for driving this mission to improve the lives of children suffering from pediatric neurological diseases.”
