Cornerstone Credit Union Awards $5,000 of Founders’ Scholarships

FREEPORT, IL – Cornerstone Credit Union is proud to announce the outstanding recipients of their 2022 Founders’ Scholarships: Addison Gitz, Freeport High School; Lindsey Melancon, Freeport High School; Savannah Weinberg, South Beloit High School; and Cailyn Piercy, Fulton High School. Each deserving winner receives a $1,250 one-time award.

“As part of our community outreach, we proudly recognize these excellent high school seniors. Our four local winners were chosen for their commitment to furthering their education and community involvement,” stated Julianne Johnson, CCU Scholarship Committee. “Education is the key to a successful future, which is why Cornerstone Credit Union established the annual Founders’ Scholarship program in 1998. On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, I congratulate this year’s recipients and wish them future success,” added Gail Clore, Cornerstone Credit Union President/CEO.

All of the winners have an impressive list of academic achievements and activities, and have been accepted to an accredited college or university. Addison will attend the University of Wisconsin in Madison with the intent on getting her Bachelor's degree in Political Science. Lindsey will attend Eastern Illinois University to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in English Education. Savannah will attend Bradley University to obtain her degree in Psychology, specifically studying the effects of social media in the brains of young children. Cailyn will attend the University of Iowa to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine.
