Del Norte CU Awarding $13,000 in Scholarships to Local Seniors

Santa Fe, New Mexico, May 10, 2022 – In a first for the Del Norte LOV (Living Our Vision) Foundation, the independent 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization associated with Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU), 11 area graduating seniors have been named as recipients of the annual Del Norte LOV Foundation Scholarship Program for the 2021-2022 school year.  “Last year, we had the privilege of awarding scholarships to ten area high school graduates. This year, we’re thrilled to expand our scholarship program to eleven deserving young adults whose talents will help them achieve great things,” said Connie Tooker Nuñez, Del Norte LOV Foundation Director.

Scholarships are available to any current DNCU member who is a graduating senior, homeschool or GED student attending an accredited vocational school, college or university for the upcoming school year. Winners are chosen based on their academic record, work experience, statement of goals and demonstrated leadership in their schools and communities. Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America, is responsible for selection of scholarship recipients. “Adding to the number of scholarship recipients is not just a reflection of need in New Mexico. It also serves as evidence of the growing amount of academic talent that our region is producing every year,” explained Chuck Valenti,

CEO/President of DNCU. “Each year, the Del Norte LOV Foundation helps lead us in our mission of improving the lives of promising students and others in New Mexico. We’re proud to be part of this effort.”

Ten seniors are set to receive $1,000 each and one student is set to receive a $3,000 award. The funds are to be used for achieving a higher education goal – a college or vocational school of their choice.
