SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 20, 2022 – Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) members once again demonstrated their generosity and care for local communities as they donated $807,000 to help nonprofits across the Sacramento region during the annual Big Day of Giving on May 5, 2022. Golden 1 members supported a broad range of 627 different nonprofits for this year’s event.
“Having spent the last two years living through the pandemic, we know the needs of our community are greater than ever before. We are immensely thankful to our members for helping those in need during this year’s Big Day of Giving,” said Erica Taylor, Vice President of Communications and Community Relations. “Every year we are humbled by the generosity of the region and this year was no exception. Golden 1 is proud to support the region’s nonprofits whose positive contributions benefit our neighbors and communities.”
Golden 1 supported nonprofits on Big Day of Giving this year with $165,000 in corporate donations, matching funds, and event sponsorship. For the tenth consecutive year, Golden 1 proportionally matched member donations made with a Golden 1 debit or credit card and made this year’s contribution even bigger by doubling last year’s amount and matching up to $100,000.
Big Day of Giving launched in 2013 as a program of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation and to date has raised more than $65 million for nonprofit organizations in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties.
