(Somerville, MA) Naveo Credit Union’s Scholarship Committee awarded four scholarships totaling $7,500 to local students during a small ceremony held at their Somerville branch. Scholarship recipients for the Carlos Faria & Victor Da Silva Memorial Scholarship were Daniela Almeida of Tewksbury, Samantha Forrestier of Atlanta, GA and Andersen Prince of Medford. The inaugural John C. Feitor Scholarship was presented to Antonio Ferreira. Scholarship recipients are anonymously selected based on factors including financial need, scholastic merit as well as community and school involvement. 

Members of the Naveo Scholarship Committee presented the Carlos Faria and Victor Da Silva Memorial Scholarship winners with their certificates. With honor, the first annual John C. Feitor Memorial Scholarship was presented by Mr. Feitor’s sons, John R. and Michael Feitor. The family shared fond memories of their father, stories of his dedication to the community, higher education and the Credit Union prior to awarding the scholarship to the recipient who best embodied his inspiring traits and qualities.

Named after former board members for their dedication to education, the Carlos Faria and Victor Da Silva Memorial Scholarship Fund has been a part of the Credit Union since the 1980’s. The John C. Feitor Memorial Scholarship was launched in 2022 to honor the legacy of the longtime volunteer board member who was a strong believer of community involvement and striving for higher education.
