(Indianapolis, IN, August 29, 2022)  Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members Credit Union, recently awarded $63,000 in scholarships and grants through its Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program, Mike and Marti Ney “People Helping People” Grant, Terry Renick Legacy Golf Grant, and the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant for the Arts Program. 

Indiana Members Foundation awarded the 2022 Scholarship and Grant recipients individually this year at Indiana Members Credit Union’s headquarters. 

The Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program was established to honor Robert E. Martin for more than four decades of dedication and service as a board member of IMCU as well as his commitment to education throughout his career as Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance at Indiana University Purdue-University at Indianapolis (IUPUI).  The scholarships are available to college students that are members of Indiana Members Credit Union.  Applications are accepted annually from January 1 through February 28. 

The following ten recipients each received a $5,000 Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship:

• Ann Petty, Hamilton Heights High School/Indiana University

• Claire Buddenbaum, North Central High School/Indiana University

• Caroline Eads, Lawrence North High School/University of California, Berkeley

• Grace Moriarty, Fishers High School/New York University

• Grayson Cates, Bishop Chatard High School/Ball State University

• Haley Arrowood, Greenfield-Central High School/Purdue University

• Isabella Foster, Beech Grove High School/Purdue University

• Margaret Rossi, Zionsville Community High School/Purdue University

• Olivia Simon, Avon High School/Florida State University

• Sarah Hamlet, Westfield High School/Purdue University

The Mike and Marti Ney “People Helping People” Grant was created to assist schools and community organizations that help children to achieve success in learning.  Mike Ney serves on the Board of Directors at IMCU. 

Five grants were awarded through the Mike and Marti Ney “People Helping People” Grant Program:

• Brooke’s Place, Camp Healing Tree Project - $2,500

• George Julian Parent Teacher Student Association, A Playground to Honor Hannah Project- $2,500

• Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana, Realityapolis Project - $2,500

• Westminster Neighborhood Services, Back to School Bash Project - $1,250

• St. Mary’s Early Childhood Center, Preschool Program Project - $1,250

Joan Wolfe worked for Indiana Members Credit Union for 27 years and was a huge supporter of Indiana Members Foundation's mission to provide school children with the necessities essential for learning and succeeding in their education.  Joan lost her fight with Cancer in March of 2013, but her fight to help children succeed continues with the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant Program.

The purpose of the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant for the Arts Program is to assist schools and community organizations that help children to achieve success in learning through the arts. 

Two grants were awarded through the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant for the Arts Program to the following organizations:

• Harrison Center, Youth Cultural Entrepreneurship Initiative - $1,000

• Cancer Support Community, Emma’s Art Kits - $1,000

The Terry Renick Legacy Golf Grant was established to assist high schools in communities served by IMCU annually with its golf program.  Terry Renick retired from IMCU as the Vice President of Operations after serving 30 years.  The following school received a $1,000 grant for their course green fees, range ball fees, tournament entry fees, golf balls, and travel expenses:

• Warren Central High School Golf Team - $1,000

Applications for all grants are accepted annually, March 1 through April 15.

Since inception of the Indiana Members Foundation scholarship (2017) and grant (2014) programs, more than $417,800 has been awarded to students and organizations in the communities we serve.
