The Nebraska Credit Union League (NCUL), along with Centris FCU employees, brought the Mad City Money simulation to the Teen Center, a high school after school program.  These teens tried to stay on budget while visiting 9 different merchants, who aggressively, tried to sell them the most expensive goods and services.  

The Teen Center is a unique after-school program (3-6pm) serving at-risk students at Omaha Burke High School.  They are a collaborative effort between St Luke Church, Burke High School, Nebraska Methodist College and numerous community partners. Their program works to maximize the potential of youth through the development of positive relationships, motivation for academic success and safe environments.  Their goals are simple: 100% high school graduation and postsecondary enrollment though creating intentional programming, strong mentoring relationships, and safe environments. Programming includes academic assistance, college preparedness, alumni services, health and wellness, enrichment and student and family support services.

NCUL provides CUNA’s Mad City Money program to various student community groups throughout the state.  Credit union employees volunteer as merchants and love getting to know these kids, while helping them understand the importance of a budget.
