Black Hills FCU Raises $1,450 for National MS Society

Rapid City, S.D. – Lacing up their shoes, Black Hills Federal Credit Union employees hit the pavement in force this May for the Black Hills MS Walk in Rapid City, an annual fundraising and awareness event benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Through various fundraising projects over the last few month, BHFCU’s employees were able to donate $1,450 to the National MS Society, which provides treatment options, resources and information to individuals living with MS. Employees then joined area businesses, individuals and MS patients for the annual awareness walk through Downtown Rapid City.

“I’m extremely grateful for the members, friends and coworkers who helped support this great organization by purchasing pizza kits, t-shirts and bracelets during our fundraisers, as well as participating in the walk,” said Michelle Quintal, chair of BHFCU’s National MS Society Community Action Team Project. “Together, we’re helping to improving the lives of so many individuals in our community who are affected by MS.”

Employees and members also donated $250 to the Rapid City Fire Department’s Fill the Boot fundraiser to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association, participated in various Adopt-A-Mile highway clean-up projects, collected 1,552 books for the South Dakota Department of Health’s youth literacy initiative and hosted a blood drive benefiting the United Blood Services of the Black Hills.

This June, BHFCU’s employees are participating in a Community Action Team project to benefit the Black Hills Area Humane Society and Black Hills Habitat for Humanity.

With support from its members, BHFCU’s employee-led Community Action Team contributes and volunteers with more than 50 local, charitable organizations throughout the year. You can get involved with and stay up-to-date on all of BHFCU’s current CAT projects by following us on Facebook or by visiting www.bhfcu.com to learn more.
