Vermont Federal CU is Helping Students to Develop Business Skills

Burlington, VT –Vermont Federal Credit Union Participates in Middlebury Union Middle Schools “Shark Tank Start Up” summer camp for second year.

Over the course of a month, 18 students from Middlebury Union Middle School divided into teams and built their own companies; developing products, evaluating their business and conducting market analysis. Vermont Federal Credit Union staff members, Kevin Parish and Shauntell Poquette joined the camp to mentor these students through their entrepreneurial journey. Kevin Parish, Milton Branch Manager, explained, “Our role as mentors was to coach and challenge the students to develop a solid business plan for their company in order to catch the attention of the sharks.” He continued, “My favorite part of the program was being able to watch the development of each student.” Shauntell Poquette, Middlebury Member Service Representative added, “It was such a good feeling knowing that we were a part of their new found confidence and learning.”

In addition to providing staff support, Vermont Federal was happy to make a donation in the amount of $750 to help assist the camp’s efforts.
