1st United Credit Union Helps Fight Hunger in Their Community

OAKLAND, CA – 95.7 The GAME (KGMZ-FM) and 1st United Credit Union announced today the presentation of $10,000 to Alameda County Community Food Bank as part of their 6th Annual Oakland A’s “Homeruns for Hunger” program.

95.7 The GAME A’s Pre and Post Show Host, Chris Townsend hosted the check presentation with 1st United Credit Union Chief Operating Officer, Ed Renteria. Accepting the check on behalf of Alameda County Community Food Bank was Executive Director, Suzan Bateson.


1st United Credit Union is in its 6th year supporting the Oakland A’s Homeruns for Hunger program benefitting Alameda County Community Food Bank. For every Oakland A’s regular season homerun, 1st United Credit Union donated $50 to Alameda County Community Food Bank to honor their commitment to giving back to their local community. The Oakland A’s made a total of 234 homeruns, which means $10,000 was donated to Alameda County Community Food Bank. Over the past 6 years, 1st United Credit Union has donated $59,071 to help Alameda County Community Food Bank pursue their mission for a hunger-free community


The 2016 Feeding America Food Bank of the Year, Alameda County Community Food Bank, has been at the forefront of hunger relief efforts in the Bay Area since 1985. This year, the Food Bank will distribute the equivalent of 31 million meals. More than half of the food distributed was farm-fresh produce. The Food Bank serves 1 in 5 Alameda County residents by distributing food through a network of 200 food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community organizations, as well as direct-distribution programs including Children‘s Backpack and Mobile Pantry. For 10 consecutive years, Alameda County Community Food Bank has received Charity Navigator‘s top rating —Four Stars —ranking the organization among the top 1 percent of charities nationwide.
