Affinity FCU Foundation Offering $10,000 in Scholarships!

Basking Ridge, N.J. (March 1, 2018) – Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation announced today that the application period for its 2018 scholarship award program is now open. This year, 10 special members will be selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship.

“Our members are the backbone of Affinity and there’s no better feeling than supporting them in their goals,” said Jacqui Kearns, Chief Brand Officer at AFCU. “We are a community connected, and are eager to award these scholarships to help those within the Affinity family grow and flourish.”

The scholarships to be awarded include:

  • The Robert L. Birkhahn Community Spirit Sponsorship: Dedicated to the late Affinity Executive Vice President Robert L. Birkhahn, this award is a tribute to the Birkhahn’s dedication to the community, which he showcased tirelessly throughout his lifetime and service to Affinity. This scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors pursuing an undergraduate degree.

  • The Richard A. Romano Rutgers Scholarship: In honor of Richard A. Romano, a dedicated member of the Affinity Federal Credit Union Board of Directors, this scholarship is in tribute to his invaluable volunteerism and contributions to Affinity. Eligible students include current high school seniors who intend to attend Rutgers University, as well as transfer students and current Rutgers undergraduates.

  • The Affinity Continuing Education Scholarship: Dedicated to students continuing their quest for higher education, this award recognizes the hardship of completing a program during the later and most critical years of an undergraduate degree. This award recognizes students who are persevering through adversity to pursue their academic goals.
