Hanscom FCU Teaches Employees to Provide Great Lending Service to Members

Hanscom AFB, MA (April 4, 2018) – Hanscom Federal Credit Union hosted employees from over a half-dozen New England credit unions for Rex Johnson’s University of Lending course. The popular class was taught by A. Rex Johnson, owner/founder of Lending Solutions Consulting, Inc. (LSC) at Hanscom FCU’s new Operations Center in Littleton, MA, from March 27 through March 30, 2018.

Rex, along with Scot Vackar, Vice President of Sales for LSC, addressed about 40 employees from credit union disciplines such as consumer lending, branch management, and marketing, showing them strategies to better read a credit report, grow loans and loan yield, and enhance member service and sales skills. As always, Rex’s teaching style entertained as well as educated.

“Since 2003, Rex has helped us expand our lending knowledge and improve our relationships with members,” said Donna Brien, AVP of Consumer Loan Operations at Hanscom FCU. “While we’re committed to help our members improve their credit scores and pay less interest, it’s also important that our employees have access to the latest consumer lending knowledge and thought leadership, which we’ve come to expect from Rex and his organization.”

Hanscom FCU hosts Rex’s training sessions each year and invites other credit unions to participate. Area credit unions attending training this year included Luso American Credit Union (Peabody, MA), Premier Source Credit Union (East Longmeadow, MA), Polish National Credit Union (Chicopee, MA), Tremont Credit Union (Boston, MA), Mills42 Credit Union (Lowell, MA), York County Federal Credit Union (Saco, ME), Granite State Credit Union (Manchester, NH), and Everett Credit Union (Everett, MA).

“Credit unions like to lend a hand not just to consumers, but to other credit unions,” said Hanscom FCU’s Chairman of the Board Paul Marotta. “We’re happy we can do this each year.”

Hanscom Federal Credit Union, headquartered at Hanscom Air Force Base, serves over 81,000 members across the country and overseas through 20 branches, over 100,000 service centers and surcharge-free ATMs, 24-hour telephone service and a web-based branch. The credit union holds over $1.2 billion in assets.
