(ARANSAS PASS, TX – APRIL 5, 2018)–– Security Service Charitable Foundation donated $2,500 to Aransas Pass for Youth (APFY) as they work to provide a supervised summer youth program for at-risk youth in Aransas Pass. The funds will help purchase a new storage building needed to house supplies. The organization’s previous storage building was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey.

The APFY Summer Program provides opportunities for children to experience positive individual and group recreation activities that enhance social skills and provide life-long benefits, including the enjoyment of literacy, respect for the environment, and skills to remain drug-free.

“With this generous donation from Security Service Federal Credit Union, we will be able to continue helping children in kindergarten through 8th grade, by making sure they are in a safe and positive environment during the summer,” said Vickie Torres, executive director for Aransas Pass for Youth.

“Children in Aransas Pass are working through so much change and loss in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey,” said Julie Balboa, vice president of member service for Security Service Federal Credit Union – South Texas. “This is especially true for at-risk students. We’re honored to be able to provide this donation to Aransas Pass for Youth during this time of recovery as they continually work to better the lives of those who need it most.”

Aransas Pass for Youth provides a safe, supervised, summer recreation program for at-risk youth in Aransas Pass and its surrounding areas. Children participating in the program are provided with positive recreational activities and experiences. Last year, the APFY program served nearly 200 children ages 5-13.

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union’s market areas.
