Hanscom FCU Honors High School Junior ROTC Students

Hanscom AFB, MA (May 24, 2018) – Hanscom Federal Credit Union’s President and CEO David Sprague attended the Air Force Junior ROTC Awards Night at Bedford High School (MA) on May 15, 2018, and presented two students with awards.

Cadet Lt. Colonel Daniel Smith of Billerica, MA, received the John F. Condon Scholarship, an award based on academic record, extracurricular activities, and an essay. The scholarship is named after a former Hanscom FCU board member who made significant contributions to the credit union’s success during his 26 years of volunteerism.

Smith, a senior, will begin studies in civil engineering at Norwich University this fall as a cadet in their ROTC Corps of Cadets.

The Color Guard Scholarship was awarded to Cadet Colonel Alexander Horton, the program’s outgoing Group Commander.

Cadet Colonel Antranig Douglas, the incoming Group Commander, received a commendation from Sprague for his outstanding performance of the National Anthem at Hanscom FCU’s Annual Meeting on May 5, 2018.

“I’m impressed with these three young men who’ve dedicated themselves to the rigorous JROTC program that Bedford High School offers,” said Paul Marotta, Hanscom FCU’s Chairman of the Board. “I’m confident their early service to our community will pay dividends to the greater good of our country in the future.”

Hanscom Federal Credit Union, headquartered at Hanscom Air Force Base, serves over 82,000 members across the country and overseas through 20 branches, over 100,000 service centers and surcharge-free ATMs, 24-hour telephone service and a web-based branch. The credit union holds over $1.3 billion in assets.
