Metro West Chapter of Credit Unions Awards $14,000 in Grants to Local Charities

ROMULUS, Mich. (August 8, 2018)The Metro West Chapter of Credit Unions recently announced grants totaling $14,000 awarded to thirteen Wayne and Washtenaw County area non-profits.  Funds are raised through the Chapter’s annual golf outing and other activities by the thirteen credit unions in the Metro West area.

Presentations will be made to representatives of this year’s top three award recipients at the Chapter’s Annual Golf Outing on August 16, 2018. The top three include Fierce Empowerment, Michigan Foster Care Closet, and Hope Medical Clinic. Other recipients are First Step, The Journey to Housing Program, The Rotary Club of Westland, Kids on the Go, Girls on the Run of Southeastern Michigan, Wayne County Dispute Resolution Center, Services to Enhance Potential, Living Arts, Vista Maria and Pro-Literacy Detroit.  .

The charities that applied were all very worthy organizations and the chapter is honored to do a small part in assisting these organizations.  The chapter donated $2,500 to the Susan G Komen organization earlier this year bringing the total donations to $16,500.

The Metro West Chapter of Credit Unions is a chapter of the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL).  The Chapter will begin accepting grant proposals for next year in May 2019.
