Black Hills FCU Employees Raise $3,000 for Local Charities

RAPID CITY, S.D. – This past September, Black Hills Federal Credit Union’s employees helped support a variety of local organizations working to improve lives in their communities. Through Community Action Team projects/fundraisers, employees raised $3,000 for the American Heart Association, Children’s Miracle Network at Sanford Children’s Hospital, and local animal shelters.

During their recent fundraiser for the American Heart Association, employees purchased whipped cream pies to throw at BHFCU’s managers. (Photo above.) With the addition of jeans day funds, employees were able to donate $1,000 to support the organization’s Black Hills and Central South Dakota Heart Walks.

“At BHFCU, we recognize the importance of being heart healthy and living an active lifestyle,” said Amber Usera-Morris, co-chair of BHFCU’s Community Action Team Project for the American Heart Association. “We’re blessed to be part of the American Heart Association’s efforts to improve the health of our community through their educational initiatives, funding and research.”

Employees also donated $1,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls as part of Miracle Jeans Day, a national, credit union-organized fundraising campaign supporting CMN Hospitals. Additionally, they donated $1,000 to animal shelters across South Dakota and held a clothing drive for Dress for Success – Black Hills.

This October, BHFCU’s employees and members are participating in Community Action Team projects to benefit the Cornerstone Rescue Mission, South Dakota State Veterans Homes, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

With support from its members, BHFCU’s employee-led Community Action Team contributes to and volunteers with more than 60 local, charitable organizations throughout the year.
