Municipal Credit Union Awarding $71,000 in Scholarships!

NEW YORK CITY, November 5, 2018: Municipal Credit Union (MCU) is now accepting applications for the 2019 Scholarship Program. This year, MCU will give away $71,000 in scholarship grants to college-bound graduating high school seniors: nine memorial scholarships worth $5,000 each and 13 grants of $2,000 each.

“Empowering the youth throughout the communities we serve is at the heart of our credit union values," said MCU Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Louise Cogan-Rupani, who is leading this year’s scholarship program. "We are very proud of our long-standing scholarship program and the opportunities it provides us in recognizing and rewarding young people for their outstanding academic performance and community service. We hope our scholarships will enable these students to achieve their goals in and out of the classroom and succeed in their future endeavors.”

Eligibility for participation in the MCU Scholarship Program is open to MCU members, a child or a grandchild of a member in good standing. Selection is based on academic performance, extracurricular and community activities, references, and an essay expressing personal goals. Additionally, students applying for the scholarships who are also MCU members will also automatically be entered for a $500 statewide Public Relations and Marketing Council Scholarship.

The MCU Scholarship Program is part of the credit union’s long-standing, larger corporate commitment to youth education and financial literacy. Applications are available on MCU’s website, www.nymcu.org, and at any MCU branch location. All completed applications must be submitted by January 4, 2019.
