Jeanne D'Arc CU Launches "Adults With Abilities" Program

LOWELL, MA – Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union is pleased to partner with The PLUS Company to launch its “Adults With Abilities” Program.

The PLUS Company provides supportive services to adults with developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries. The agency matches individuals with local jobs based on their career aspirations, personalities and skill set. By working with job developers, the individuals’ families, and through independent research, The PLUS Company identifies businesses in the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire areas to partner with. In addition to Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union, The PLUS Company also works with UMass Lowell, Marshalls/TJ Maxx, Sodexo, St. Joseph Hospital and Lowell General Hospital.

“You want people to know that everyone has abilities and skills,” said Melissa Giandomenico, Director of Massachusetts Services at The PLUS Company. “These folks have the best work ethic and are eager to please. Employers often say they are the best employees to have.”

The Credit Union welcomes Ryan Gleason and Amber Bertolami as the first employees as part of the program. Gleason works in a newly created position, Administrative Services Clerk. He is responsible for collecting, sorting and delivering mail, making sure all the break rooms are fully stocked, along with numerous other tasks at the Credit Union’s corporate office in Lowell, MA. Bertolami also works at the corporate headquarters, and is the Receptionist and Front Desk Ambassador. She provides support to the Human Resources team when needed, as well.

“Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union is proud to be an institution that welcomes diversity within the workplace,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. “The PLUS Company is a wonderful organization that allows individuals to carve a path toward accomplishing their career goals, and we are proud to partner with them. Ryan and Amber have been a great addition to our team and are an absolute pleasure to work with.”

The PLUS Company is a state-funded agency based in Nashua, NH. It also has office locations in Tewksbury and Lawrence, MA. In addition to employment services, The PLUS Company offers transitional services, adult education, residential programs and individual community resources.

“It’s a wonderful feeling when you see someone work hard and achieve their goals,” said Giandomenico.
