Del Norte Credit Union Awarding $10,000 in Scholarships

SANTA FE, New Mexico, February 8, 2018— Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU), Northern New Mexico’s hometown financial cooperative has just opened the 2019-2020 DNCU Scholarship Program. For the past nine consecutive years, Del Norte Credit Union has helped over 70 deserving local area students with a combined $74,000 in scholarship funds. This year, Del Norte Credit Union is awarding 10 exemplary students with $1,000 scholarships.

DNCU established a scholarship program to assist credit union members who are high school seniors, equivalent home school seniors, or a recipient of a GED and plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. Applications are available to download at dncu.org and can be filled out electronically before printing and mailing to Scholarship America, a third party independent partner.

“What better way to support our communities than to help our youth forge a path to a better future.  This is an important way we live our vision of improving lives,” says Chuck Valenti, DNCU CEO/ President. “We are proud to help students from every community we serve and we encourage all graduating seniors to apply.”

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a member of Del Norte Credit Union prior to the application deadline.

  • Be a high school senior, equivalent home school senior, or a recipient of a GED received in same year of higher education enrollment.

  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire 2019-2020 academic year.

  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship Management Services. In no instance does any officer or employee of DNCU play a part in the selection.
