Blairsville, GA (March 14, 2019) – Peach State Federal Credit Union is pleased to sponsor the upcoming Georgia Mountain Storytelling Festival (GMSF) at the Union County Schools Fine Arts Center in Blairsville, Georgia on April 12-13, 2019.

GMSF provides opportunities for an underserved audience to engage with the voices of Appalachia through hearing stories and attending workshops that will enable them to develop a cultural intelligence through the arts of listening and speaking. Featured speakers will include Adam Booth, Claudia Schmidt, and Bobby Norfolk just to name a few.

“Because education is at the core of our mission, GMSF provides free admission to all students age 18 and under. It’s inspiring to see high school students enthralled by storytellers, so much so that they put down their phones, look up and listen,” remarked Ruth Looper, Ph.D., Co-director of the Festival, and Professor of English at Young Harris College. “Sponsors such as Peach State help make these kinds of transformative experiences possible.”
