Alaska USA Foundation Donates $78,000 to Local Nonprofits

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Alaska USA Foundation donated a total of $78,000 to local nonprofits in Alaska, Arizona, California’s High Desert, and Washington.

$15,000 was donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska, whose mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth, so they can achieve their full potential.

$5,000 was donated to Together! Club House Programs in Lacey, Washington. Together! provides after-school programs in communities and schools that are burdened by poverty, homelessness, hunger, educational disparities, and a lack of access to extracurricular activities.

$10,000 was donated to the Greater Hope Foundation in San Bernardino, California. Greater Hope Foundation provides programs which fulfill the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social needs of abused, neglected, and troubled youth.

$10,000 was donated to Alaska Stand Down, Inc., which brings homeless veterans together to provide better access to the community resources needed to begin addressing their individual problems and rebuild their lives.

$10,000 was donated to Children’s Miracle Network in support of the Camp Rainbow Program, which provides a weeklong camping experience for children with cancer, hemophilia and other chronic blood disorders, and their siblings.

$3,000 was donated to the United States Veterans Support Group, Inc. of Barstow, California. Their programs assist veterans and their families with transportation to and from appointments, and assistance filling out and processing the necessary paperwork to obtain benefits and find employment opportunities.

$25,000 was donated to the Armed Services YMCA in support of Operation Little Learners in Seattle, Washington. The program guides and gives tools to parents on how to enhance the developmental areas of their children, and offers an opportunity for early learning and bonding to establish a foundation for future social and academic success.

“As Alaska USA Foundation’s membership grows, so does our ability to help out organizations in the communities we serve,” said Dan McCue, executive director, Alaska USA Foundation. “The generosity of Alaska USA members is overwhelming, and it’s an honor to be able to donate money on their behalf to these highly effective organizations.”
