Greylock FCU Celebrates New Branch with Community Empowerment Center for Financial Education

October 30, 2019 - PITTSFIELD – Greylock celebrated the Grand Reopening of its Morningside branch at 75 Kellogg Street on October 21st with ribbon cutting ceremony and reception. Approximately 200 people attended the festivities that included tours of the new Community Empowerment Center, pumpkin decorating for the kids and appetizers and desserts from KJ Nosh catering.

“Our first branch is now our newest branch,” said Greylock President/CEO John Bissell. “Morningside is where we first put down roots. It is a privilege to still be a part of the neighborhood and to be reinvesting in its future.”

The recently completed multi-million dollar renovation also includes a Community Empowerment Center (CEC), a space where anyone can access services and resources that focus on financial education and empowerment for the under-served and unbanked residents of the Berkshires.

When the Kellogg Street facility first opened in 1971, Greylock was still known as the GE Employees Credit Union. This was their first branch outside General Electric property. At the time, the GE Employee’s Store was housed in one-half of the building and the branch in the other half. The space is now utilized entirely by Greylock, with the state of the art branch and the CEC on the main floor and operations and offices in the fully-remodeled lower level.
