Cornerstone Credit Union will host the 6th annual WREX Freeport Food Drive at their facility on W Meadows Drive in Freeport on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. WREX-TV Channel 13 will broadcast live during the morning, noon and evening news shows.

This local effort began in 2014 when WREX became aware that some food pantries were at risk of closing their doors due to lack of food. Those Freeport pantries were able to keep their doors open because of the community's response to the food drive, and now it's an annual event.  

For the past two years, people steadily came in to the Cornerstone Credit Union during the food drive, dropping off donations. Cans and boxes of non-perishable food filled the building. Estimated at over two tons, last year’s drive brought in an amount that even surprised volunteers. Plus, monetary donations were collected totaling over $3,000, which included a corporate donation of $1,000 presented by Cornerstone Credit Union.  

We invite the public to help fight hunger in our community again this year by bringing their food donations to Cornerstone Credit Union, 550 W. Meadows Drive in Freeport, on Friday, November 8th.
