(SAN ANTONIO, TX – MARCH 27, 2020) – Families across the country are being impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic.  The recent report of nearly 3.3 million Americans filing for unemployment means people across the country will be looking for help when it comes to paying their mortgage, car payments or other monthly bills.  In recognizing this need, Security Service Federal Credit Union has announced a Loan Assistance Program, offering 90-day extensions on most loans.

“If your financial condition has been negatively impacted and you are worried about your financial wellbeing, Security Service remains committed to assisting you in your time of need,” said Jim Laffoon, President and CEO of Security Service Federal Credit Union.

Extensions are being offered on auto, business and personal loans.  In addition, mortgage and credit card relief is available.  Details of the various options available are listed on the credit union website at www.ssfcu.org under the COVID-19 Member Relief Programs tab.

Security Service took precautionary measures early on in the pandemic by re-routing branch lobby traffic to their drive-thru, limiting face to face contact and utilizing increased sanitation measures as well as social distancing in both front office and back office operations.  A large percentage of the credit union’s workforce is now working from home and employees have been assured they will be paid during this difficult time.

“With so many American’s being laid off and businesses being forced to temporarily close, we want our employees to know their job is secure and they will be receiving a paycheck,” said Laffoon.

The credit union has also put measures in place with an Emergency Paid Leave program should any employee be directly impacted by COVID-19 and either need to be hospitalized or quarantined, or is directly impacted by the closure of a school or daycare.
