Ideal CU Virtual Annual Meeting Attracts Record Crowd & Spotlights Community Giving

Woodbury, MN – May 15, 2020 – Ideal Credit Union held its 94th Annual Meeting virtually via webinar on April 28, 2020, attracting a record attendance of 448 members and guests, who participated from the safety of their homes. Ideal CU has offered a remote option to attend its Annual Meeting since 2016, and was one of the first in the state to embrace a virtual format.

With the coronavirus pandemic changing the way we all work and live, the transition to an allvirtual meeting was essential, and Ideal was well prepared to make the move. Ideal CU Board Chairman Peter Olsen and Ideal CU President/CEO Brian Sherrick reviewed highlights of the past year and assured members the credit union is well positioned financially to withstand the current economic downturn.

“Ideal Credit Union has been proudly serving our members since 1926. We have weathered a number of difficult economic periods in the past 94 years and have emerged stronger and better prepared to meet future challenges. Our unwavering commitment is to serve you to the best of our ability at all times. Our seasoned staff is here to work with you to find solutions that fit your individual needs and help ease the financial burden you may be facing,” said Sherrick.

Olsen shared the many ways Ideal CU is involved in the community. “As an active community partner, Ideal CU supports a variety of important causes that help fill a void and bring essential services to those in need. In 2019, your credit union donated thousands of dollars through the Ideal CU Community Foundation and employee and Board of Director contributions to the MN Brain Tumor 5K, financial literacy programs, local area food shelves and food programs, local veterans groups, the Salvation Army Coats for Kids drive and many other worthy causes,” Olsen said. “Ideal CU employees, volunteers and family members are always ready to lend a hand and donate hundreds of volunteer hours each year helping in our local communities. Whether it’s planning and implementing the MN Brain Tumor 5K, packing boxes for our hungry neighbors at Second Harvest Heartland Regional Food Bank, or walking 60 miles in support of breast cancer research, our devoted volunteers put the credit union philosophy of people helping people into action.” Olsen stated.

Olsen announced the reelection of Board of Director incumbents Keith E. Hauge, Lisa M. Liddell and Craig J. Spreiter, who ran unchallenged for another 3-year term. Members and their guests received a $10 incentive for attending the Annual Meeting and 17 lucky members were chosen at random to receive a total of $2,500 in cash door prizes.
