FORUM Credit Union Awards Scholarships and Grants to Local Educators and Students

Indianapolis, Indiana, June 22, 2020 – FORUM Credit Union honored its Foundation scholarship and grant recipients with a commemorative video, in place of the annual in-person reception. The video honored the Foundation’s current and previous educator grant and collegiate scholarship recipients. This year, the Foundation awarded seventeen educators and eight undergraduate students from central Indiana.

The following educators received grants, in various amounts, for their classrooms:

Katie Norton, Southeastern Elementary; Daniel Ng, Thomas Gregg School 15; Laura Gunderson, Center Grove Middle School; Sarah Gillim, Carmel High School; Jessica Smith, Lew Wallace Elementary; Brett Hawkins, Abraham Lincoln Elementary; Elaine Oldham, Washington Woods Elementary; Norman Leonard, Pike High School; Amy Mohl, Speedway High School; Melanie Nobbe, New Palestine Junior High; Lisa Thresh, Pleasant Run Elementary; Amanda Kammer, Franklin Township Middle West; Erin Stevens, JB Stephens Elementary; David Nelson, Indian Creek Elementary; Kay Schrage, Stony Creek Elementary; Lindsey Bradshaw, HSE Intermediate Junior High; Miranda Vaiagae, Southwest Elementary; Sheryl Niccum, Guerin High School.

The following students received $5,000 collegiate scholarships, renewable up to four years totaling $20,000: Kennedi Burroughs, Lawrence Central High School; Aniya Harris, Pike High School; Benjamin Johnson, Fishers High School; Levi Kaster, Westfield High School; Elisabeth Moss, Warren Central High School; Joshua Shinkle, New Palestine High School; Rachel Stemme, Indiana University; Justin Tidd, Southport High School.

The FORUM Credit Union Foundation also recognized previous scholarship recipients in the video, who will be renewing their scholarship funds for an additional year of undergraduate education.

Applications for educator grants are scheduled to open August 1st for the 2020/2021 academic school year, pending area school re-opening plans. Educators in Marion and surrounding counties are encouraged to apply for the classroom grants before October 1, 2020 and recipients will be announced by November 1, 2020. The applications for collegiate scholarships will be available on October 1, 2020 and recipients will be announced in the spring of 2021. Teachers and students can apply through a quick and easy application online.
