PSECU and HACC Partner to Host Virtual Financial Education Event on “All Things Money”

Harrisburg, PA (July 8, 2020) – To assist students in managing their finances during difficult times - like those presented by the current global COVID-19 pandemic - PSECU, Pennsylvania’s anytime, anywhere digital credit union, and HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, recently partnered to host a free financial education event titled “A Virtual Chat on All Things Money.” The live, online event for participants from the HACC community was held on June 23. A recorded version is now available.

“Unexpected circumstances like those we’ve experienced over the past few months related to COVID-19 can create difficult financial situations for anyone. This is especially true for younger people who may not have as much experience or know-how when it comes to managing their finances,” said PSECU President and CEO George Rudolph. “We’re glad that HACC values the importance of financial education and that they were open to partnering with us to share this learning opportunity with their audiences. For many, it could make these challenging times easier to navigate.”

During the event, experts from PSECU offered presentations on financial topics, followed by an interactive open question-and-answer session with attendees. Topics included:

  • Managing money in times of crisis

  • Identity theft

  • Managing credit

  • Repaying student loans

Brad Decker from PSECU Financial Services® (PFS), available through CUSO Financial Services, L.P.*, also presented information on investing in uncertain times.

“HACC is committed to the success of our students, employees, and communities – both in and out of the classroom,” said Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, Vice President of College Advancement at HACC and Executive Director of the HACC Foundation. “Events about financial literacy and other relevant topics help those who might not know where to turn for helpful information. Our stakeholders have support from HACC and PSECU.”

PSECU and HACC partnered to host “A Virtual Chat on All Things Money,” featuring presentations on five financial topics offered by PSECU experts and Brad Decker from PSECU Financial Services® (PFS), available through CUSO Financial Services, L.P.* A recorded version of the financial education event is now available online.

Through its financial education program, WalletWorks, PSECU frequently offers financial workshop presentations for college and university students, community groups and nonprofit organizations, and PSECU’s Select Employee Groups (SEGs) across the state.

“Anyone can request a WalletWorks financial education presentation for their workplace or organization,” said PSECU Financial Education Analyst Lisa Kennedy. “If you’re an HR representative for one of our Select Employee Groups, you can contact your Business Development Manager.
