Several local partners and volunteers joined forces to make this event a great success, including Community Credit Union, Androscoggin Hospice Thrift Store, Kaydenz Kitchen, Kommunity Kritters, North Coast Services, Shredding On Site and Stratham Tire. The following was recycled because of this event: • North Coast Services accepted/rescued 2,370 lbs. of electronic items (CPUs/laptops, printers, monitors and televisions) from landfills. • Stratham Tire’s truck was filled with tires that will be repurposed for projects by another Maine business. • Shredding On Site professionally destroyed over 4,000 pounds of personal and confidential documents on site, protecting individuals and businesses from identity theft. • Kaydenz Kitchen was able to accept children and adult clothing, toiletry items, non-perishable items, monetary donations and more. • Kommunity Kritters was able to rehome pet food, cat litter, toys, and beds to help some special 4-legged emotional supports in our community. Due to the generosity of local partners and community members, bottle and can donations totaling $78.15 was also raised for Kommunity Kritters.

Numbers and community feedback are validating event growth year over year.  This is a drive-thru event and Community Credit Union couldn’t do it without an amazing group of volunteers. Despite the rainy weather nearly half of all CCU employees volunteered at this year’s event!  “This was an incredibly successful Earth Day celebration. Erin Dunn-Kimball, Marketing Specialist does a wonderful job collaborating with area organizations and trying to find new partners for the recycling needs she hears community members asking for each year. If community organizations want to be involved in this event please reach out to her through the Facebook event or calling Community Credit Union,” said Betsy Sibley, Chief Marketing Officer, Community Credit Union.
Community Credit Union has scheduled their next Community Recycle Day Event for April 26, 2025.  Visit www.communitycreditunion.com to learn more about upcoming community efforts.
