Fresno, CA – May 7, 2025 – Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) proudly sponsored the 2025 Hmong American Day celebration, a vibrant two-day cultural event hosted by The Fresno Center on May 3 and 4 at California State University, Fresno. The annual celebration honors the heritage, resilience, and cultural legacy of the Hmong community and commemorates their journey from Southeast Asia to the United States.

This year’s event marked the 50th
anniversary of the Hmong community’s migration to the U.S., highlighting their
courage during the Vietnam War and their enduring contributions to American
society. Attendees experienced cultural performances, traditional food vendors,
educational exhibits, and heartfelt tributes to the Special Guerrilla Unit
Veterans and the Lao Veterans of America Institute.
“Hmong American Day is not just
a celebration of our past, but a promise to future generations that our
stories, our struggles, and our contributions will never be forgotten,” said
Pao Yang, president and CEO of The Fresno Center. “We are grateful for the
support of our community partners, like EECU, in helping us honor 50 years of
resilience and achievement.”
The Fresno Center honored EECU
with a commemorative plaque and traditional Hmong xauv, an ornate silver
necklace that holds deep cultural, symbolic, and spiritual significance. EECU
was honored to be part of this meaningful celebration that uplifts the Hmong
community’s history, values, and future.
As part of the celebration,
EECU also brought its mobile branch on-site to provide convenient access to
financial information and services. EECU employees were present throughout the
event, engaging with families, answering questions, and sharing tools to support
financial wellness and empowerment within the community.
