As part of the conference, EECU hosted a workshop titled, “Understanding Credit Reports & Scores,” aimed at helping students strengthen their financial wellness. The session provided practical guidance on how credit reports are built, what factors influence credit scores, and strategies to manage personal credit.
“We know that financial stability is a key factor in student success, especially for parents who are balancing school, work, and family responsibilities,” said Valeria Garcia, EECU community relations officer. “By helping students better understand credit, we’re equipping them with the knowledge to make confident financial decisions now and in the future.”
The full-day conference, hosted by the Fresno City College Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) Program featured workshops on topics such as work-life balance, child safety, mental wellness, and navigating college with children. Inspiring guest speakers and on-site community resources rounded out the event, offering parenting students encouragement and tangible support.
“Parenting students face unique challenges as they juggle academics, raising children, and often working to support their families,” said Paula Peterson, Fresno City College CARE Program Counselor/Coordinator. “This conference creates a space where they can access resources, connect with others who share their experiences, and gain practical tools to help them succeed both in school and at home."
