Tropical Financial Credit Union, a not-for-profit financial institution based in Broward County, is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program.
Tropical Financial Credit Union, a not-for-profit financial
institution based in Broward County, is now accepting applications for its
annual scholarship program, awarding a total of $10,000 to help students
further their education.
The program is open to high school seniors planning to
attend college, as well as adult learners pursuing a college or graduate
degree. Three students will be selected to receive financial support, including
one $5,000 grand prize scholarship and two $2,500 awards.
Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and be members
of Tropical Financial Credit Union prior to the application deadline. Becoming
a member is simple, just apply and open a checking account. Community
involvement, volunteer work, and extracurricular activities will also be
considered during the selection process.
New this year, applicants can choose between two submission
formats, video or essay, both centered around the prompt: How has Tropical
Financial helped you on your financial journey?
Video submissions must be between 30 seconds and two minutes
in length. Essay submissions should[GC1]
be 500 words or less and outline applicants’ academic goals, financial journey,
and the role Tropical Financial has played along the way.
Applications will be accepted from May 18 through May 29,
with judging and winner selection taking place in mid to late-June.

challenge for many families,” said Rick Shaw, president and CEO of Tropical
Financial Credit Union. “This program is one of the ways we support our members
and invest in their future.”
