This year’s honorees represent the many roles that contribute to student success, from the classroom to school leadership and essential support services. Award recipients were selected from nominations representing Merced County’s 20 school districts.
EECU President and CEO Elizabeth J. Dooley joined Merced County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve M. Tietjen in celebrating the honorees and presenting awards during the October 1 ceremony.
“Schools thrive because of people who bring their talent, compassion, and commitment to students every day,” Dooley said. “We are proud to celebrate these outstanding individuals and recognize the important role they play in strengthening their schools and communities.”

  • School Employee of the Year – Ysabel Espinosa, El Nido Elementary School District
  • Administrator of the Year – Elizabeth Phonesavanh, Merced Union High School District
