Mountain America CU Awards Ten Education Grants

Sandy, UT - November 17, 2020 - Hands-on classroom learning experiences allow students to develop critical skills and knowledge and understand what is being taught. For the fifth year, Mountain America Credit Union has awarded education grants to enhance classroom learning and provide hands-on learning opportunities. This year, Mountain America awarded ten grants to educational professionals in Utah and Idaho, with up to $1,500 awarded to each grant winner.

The Mountain America Education Grants will fund a variety of programs, including entrepreneurial, music, STEM and development programs, to allow students to cultivate important skills. The entrepreneurial day at Terra Academy in Vernal, Utah will help students advance problem-solving and math skills and learn what it takes to run a successful business. Students at Ensign Elementary, Bell View Elementary and West Jordan Middle School will have the chance to expand their STEM skills through the use of interactive technology. Throughout 15 Davis County schools, students will have the opportunity to advance their fine motor by participating in development activities. The grants will also provide partitions for speech therapy sessions, musical instruments and chairs and desks for elementary students.

The 2020-2021 grant recipients are:

  • Jennifer Foley, Terra Academy

  • Emma Moss, Eastmont Middle School

  • Vanessa Tendick, Canyon Rim Academy

  • Marianne Wilson, Davis County School District

  • Ryan Kameron Oldroyd, West Jordan Middle School

  • Tonya King, Lowell Scott Middle School

  • Mindi Reimann, West Jordan Elementary

  • Brenda Bennett, Antelope Elementary

  • Katrina Stratford, Ensign Elementary

  • Sarah Curtis, Bell View Elementary

Mountain America will announce its grant opportunities for the 2021-2022 school year on macu.com/scholarships in spring 2021.
