Pelican State CU Hosting FREE Financial Wellness Workshop

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA— On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, Pelican State Credit Union is hosting a free virtual Financial Wellness Workshop where attendees will get tips about how to talk to their children about finances.

Beginning at 7:00 pm, the workshop will air on both Zoom and the credit union’s Facebook page. The panel will be anchored by a Pelican Nationally Certified Credit Counselor while Pelican AVP of Financial Outreach Jessica Sharon will moderate the workshop and field all questions from attendees.

In addition to hearing tips about how to teach children the importance of effective money management, guests can expect to learn more about topics such as the credit union’s School Branch Program, School Pride Debit Cards, Team Pelican Scholarship Awards, and much more. The panel will also use the chat feature during the event to provide helpful links for attendees including posts on the credit union’s official blog, Pelican State of Mind and how to schedule a credit counseling session.

Attendees are encouraged to submit questions for the panel during registration and during the event using Zoom’s Q&A feature or the comment section on the Facebook Live post. To RSVP for the workshop, guests can visit https://www.bit.ly/YouthMonthFWW.

“Bringing awareness to the importance of financial education and wellness allows us to reach more members each year, and we believe that children are never too young to learn about finances,” said Pelican’s Jessica Sharon. “We wanted to host this event to give parents additional tools and resources they can use with their families. Encouraging healthy money habits at a young age helps set a solid foundation for financial success and independence in the future.”

This workshop is completely free and open to the public, and Pelican membership is not required to attend the workshop or ask questions.
