FORUM Credit Union Foundation Awards $25K in Grants and $35K in Scholarships

FORUM Credit Union recently held its seventh annual Foundation Summer Reception at the FORUM Events Center in Fishers. The reception was held to honor the Foundation’s current educator grant and collegiate scholarship recipients. This year, the Foundation awarded sixteen educators and seven students from central Indiana.

The following educators received grants, in various amounts totaling $24,978, for their classrooms:
Sarah Ackerman, Speedway Junior High School; Kelly Barnes, Kitley Intermediate School; Jennifer Brackney, Danville Community School Corporation; Dr. Deborah Daniels Calhoun, Pike High School Freshman Center; William Doublestein, Boone Meadow Elementary; Derek Fischer, Greenwood Community High School; Shantel Garrett, North Elementary School; Kathryn Graham, Brandywine Elementary School; Joseph Hoffman, Plainfield High School; Anna Jones, Maple Elementary; Amy McCleery, Mt. Comfort Elementary; Lindsey Porter, Allisonville Elementary School; Kristina Sanders, Brookside School 54; Joseph Shimp, Center Grove Middle School North; Robyn Stout, Sand Creek Intermediate; Kimberli Williams, Arsenal Technical High School.

The following students received $5,000 collegiate scholarships, renewable for up to four years totaling $20,000 each: Angel Akinleye, Riverside High School; Meghan Cavanagh, Highlands Latin School – Indianapolis; Caleb Dowers, Avon High School; Rachel Ibey, Fishers High School; Alexa Leisure, Ball State University; Addison Norton, Lawrence North High School; Camden Saylor, Whiteland Community High School

The FORUM Credit Union Foundation also recognized previous scholarship recipients from 2020. These individuals were not able to attend in-person last year, as the event was conducted via a commemorative video due to COVID- 19.

Applications for educator grants are now open for the 2021/2022 school year. Educators in Marion and surrounding counties are encouraged to apply for classroom grants before September 1, 2021, and recipients will be announced by October 1, 2021. The application for collegiate scholarships will be available on October 1, 2021, and recipients will be announced in the spring of 2022. Teachers and students can apply online.
