Security Service Charitable Foundation Donates $5,000 to Family Violence Prevention Services

(SAN ANTONIO, TX – SEPTEMBER 2, 2021) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation is helping Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc. (FVPS) through a $5,000 donation. The funds will be used to repair the organization’s Battered Women and Children’s Shelter HVAC systems and replace the air conditioning system at the Children’s Center.

“Our mission is to break the cycle of violence and to strengthen families by providing the necessary tools for self-sufficiency through delivery of emergency shelter and transitional housing,” said Marta Peláez, president and CEO for FVPS. “We could not do what we do without partners like the Security Service Charitable Foundation. This $5,000 donation will allow us to provide uninterrupted services to families, especially during the hot summer months when air conditioning is so vital to our facilities.”

Founded in 1977, The Battered Women and Children’s Center serves Bexar County and the surrounding area. At any given time there are roughly 150 women and children at the shelter, with thousands of adult and child victims of violence served every year through the agency’s facilities. The organization features a team of licensed counselors, case managers, attorneys and other resources to help community members in need.

“Domestic violence is a critical issue many families in San Antonio and throughout the United States face,” said Mark Jimenez, FVPS board member and vice president of enterprise solution analysis and design for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “The shelter is one of many important services providing a safe haven for victims and we are pleased to support such an incredible organization.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
