Advantage One CU Awards $7,500 in Scholarships

Brownstown, MI—June 2022 Advantage One Credit Union awards three students with academic scholarships; two given to high school seniors starting their college careers and one given to an adult who is continuing their education. Each student received a $2,500 scholarship and recipients were selected based on an essay competition, with consideration given to their academic accomplishments and participation in both school and community activities.

Adult Enrichment Scholarship Winner – Dawn Millem

Dawn is an Advantage One member and long time employee of Beaumont Hospital. She started her tenure as a Ward Secretary and is currently a Utilization Review Analyst. When she is not working or at school, Dawn enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren. Dawn is currently enrolled at DeVry University where she is majoring in Health Information Technology and is a member of The National Society of Leadership and Success.

Rose Zulewski Scholarship (for AOCU members only) Winner – Rhye Lince

Rhye is an Advantage One member and 2022 Riverview HS graduate. During high school, he was a member of the marching band and track & field team. Through his parents, Rhye is involved with the Teamsters and their charity projects such as MDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway cleanup event and The Helping Hands event. Rhye will be attending Michigan Technical University in the fall to study Mechanical Engineering.

Ronald Stamper Scholarship Winner – Julia Ross

Julia is a 2022 graduate of Carlson High School where she participated in soccer (both high school and travel), the literacy team, rotary club, pep club, student council and the National Honor Society. When not participating in school related activities, Julia would volunteer to help teach Sunday school classes to kids at her church. She will be attending Michigan State University in the fall to study Packaging Engineering.
