Black Hills FCU Staff Member Raises $2,000 for Make-A-Wish

Rapid City, SD - Black Hills Federal Credit Union (BHFCU) recently donated $2,000 to Make-A-Wish in an effort led by team member Terry Blecha.

Make-A-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses across the United States. The wishes fulfill children’s dreams and can give them and their families the courage to continue forward.

This fundraising leader for the project knows the impact of Make-A-Wish firsthand. To raise the $2,000, Terry hosted a memorial disc golf tournament for his daughter Grace, a wish kid. The project stretched beyond the BHFCU team, with other organizations and community members chipping in and taking part in the tournament.

“It was exciting to see the memorial disc golf tournament I had been thinking of for years finally come to fruition,” said Terry Blecha, programmer analyst. “Having experienced the lasting impact of the Make-A-Wish organization myself drives me to contribute so other families can have the same opportunity.”

Funds raised through the disc golf tournament and Jeans Day donations allowed BHFCU to donate $2,000.

BHFCU’s mission of improving lives is achieved by living out this principle and offering ways for employees to support their community. Run internally by staff members; the Community Action Team (CAT) program was developed in 1996 to provide staff the opportunity to fundraise for and provide resources to causes near to their hearts.

BHFCU supports community needs through corporate contributions, employee fundraisers and Jeans Day donations, and contributions from members, staff, and community supporters to the Black Hills FCU Charitable Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Established in Rapid City in 1941, Black Hills Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-forprofit financial cooperative serving more than 90,000 members. The community-chartered credit union has locations in Rapid City, Custer, Eagle Butte, Hot Springs, Pierre, Sioux Falls, Spearfish, Sturgis, and Wall, South Dakota.
