Municipal Credit Union Teams Up with the New York Jets

April 27, 2017 - The New York Jets today announced a multi-year partnership with Municipal Credit Union (MCU).  Providing New York City employees a way to save at reasonable rates, MCU, founded in 1916, has grown to 17 branches, more than 400,000 members and over $2.5 billion in assets. The partnership will help MCU further advance its corporate mission of giving back to the members and communities in which it serves, as well as increase brand awareness in the New York City market.

MCU is the official credit union of the New York Jets. “We are excited to welcome MCU to our Jets family,” said Jets President Neil Glat.  “With our longstanding commitment to first responders and vital city employees, this relationship is a natural fit.  We look forward to working closely with MCU to achieve our shared goals.” As the official credit union of the Jets, MCU will serve as the presenting partner of the 2017 New York Jets Draft. Through social, digital and television content, draft parties and unique moments with draft picks, MCU will be there.  “Like the Jets, MCU is a team for New Yorkers,” said Municipal Credit Union President/CEO Kam Wong.  “Working together with the New York Jets will allow us to bolster our commitment to the outstanding civil servants who make and keep New York City great.  We look forward to working with the Jets as their partner to help make a difference in the lives of New Yorkers and make a lasting impact in the communities we represent.”

First responders are important members of both the Jets and MCU communities. The deal also makes MCU the presenting partner of the New York Jets First Responders’ game.  What has now become a yearly staple, the First Responders’ Game honors hundreds of men and women in the New York area that put others’ lives before their own. First responders representing law enforcement, firemen, and EMS workers are invited to participate in a special on-field pre-game ceremony where they are recognized and honored. The themed game is also promoted all week long in team communications and media.   MCU will also support the New York Jets in their efforts to end bullying.  Every seven seconds in America, a child is bullied. The Jets Tackle Bullying campaign, which will also be presented by MCU, aims to create awareness about a national epidemic that effects every community by reaching educators and students in the tri-state area through school visits, annual educator symposiums, and weekly programs that celebrate students who are working to resolve bullying in their schools.  With the MCU partnership, Jets Tackle Bullying school visits will expand though all five NYC boroughs.
