Veridian Credit Union Celebrates New Branch with $4,000 in Donations to Local Schools

PAPILLION, Neb. (June 16, 2017): Veridian Credit Union celebrated the opening of its new branch in Papillion, Nebraska on Thursday, June 15. City officials, chamber representatives and local educators gathered at a ribbon-cutting event for the branch at 10324 S. 71st Terrace, where three local schools were awarded donations as part of the Veridian Gives Back campaign.

“We’re celebrating each new branch with an interactive giving campaign,” said Veridian’s Papillion Branch Manager Cathy Alm. “Veridian Gives Back is a demonstration of who we are as a credit union and our commitment to being a strong community partner.”

In the weeks following the branch’s May 1 opening, the credit union launched Veridian Gives Back for public input on which of eight local schools within closest proximity to the branch should receive a portion of $4,000 in donations. In response, the community voted for La Vista West Elementary School to receive $500, Tara Heights Elementary School to receive $1,000 and G. Stanley Hall Elementary School to receive $2,500.

Event attendees toured the branch and received an announcement on the credit union’s next branch location. Veridian plans to open on South 144th Street (one block north of Center Street) in Omaha in early 2018. The new location will follow the Papillion branch’s 5,104-square-foot layout with space for consumer and commercial lenders, an entertainment-equipped family office to accommodate members with children during longer visits and biometric access to safe deposit boxes. The new location will be Veridian’s 31st branch across its field of membership and fourth in the greater Omaha area within the last two years. Veridian announced plans last year to open 10-15 greater Omaha branches in the next decade.

Veridian Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative founded in 1934 in Waterloo, Iowa as John Deere Employees Credit Union. Earnings are returned to members through better rates and low-to-no fees. The credit union offers a full range of business and consumer financial services, including accounts, loans, guidance, investments and insurance. Membership is open to anyone living or working in the credit union’s geographic field of membership, including Council Bluffs, Omaha and surrounding communities.
