Affinity Federal CU Foundation Awards $8,000 in Scholarships

The Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation is pleased to share the 2017 recipients of The Robert L. Birkhahn Community Spirit Scholarship, The Richard A. Romano Rutgers Scholarship, and The Affinity Continuing Education Scholarship.

Committed to strengthening the communities it serves, the Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation awards scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to members based on community involvement, academic achievement, and extra-curricular activities. Recipients include:

The Robert L. Birkhahn Community Spirit Scholarship, dedicated to the late Affinity Executive Vice President Robert L. Birkhahn and awarded to the following graduating high school seniors:

  • Nisha Choudhary, Basking Ridge, N.J. (Bryn Mawr College)
  • Phivos Christodoulides, Hillsborough, N.J. (University of Maryland)
  • Grace Gleba, Washington, N.J. (Pennsylvania State University)
  • Alexander Kuchnicki, Piscataway, N.J (Arcadia University)
  • Mackenzie May, Morristown, N.J. (Bucknell University)
  • Nicholas Zolkiwsky, Flemington, N.J. (Rider University)

 

The Richard A. Romano Rutgers Scholarship, in honor of Richard A. Romano, Sr., longtime volunteer on the Affinity Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee, awarded to the following graduating high school seniors, planning to enroll, transfer, or continue their educations at Rutgers University:

  • Chelsea Phuangthong, Manville, N.J. (Rutgers University)

 

The Affinity Continuing Education Scholarship, awarded to the following students planning to continue their degree at a two or four year college or university:

  • Ruchael McNair, Somerset N.J. (William Paterson University)
