Basking Ridge, N.J. (September 8, 2017) – Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation collected more than 1,500 back to school items for 75 students to support Cornerstone Family Program’s Operation Sisterhood.

From July 24 to August 7, the Foundation collected school supplies for the children of Operation Sisterhood veterans, to help keep them focused and enhance their learning experience at school. The Foundation accepted a variety of school supplies as well as financial donations at the over twenty Affinity branch locations.

David Haggerty, executive director of Morristown Neighborhood House, said, “Cornerstone Family Program’s Operation Sisterhood serves more than 300 female vets and their families. We help struggling female veterans regain their lives, connect with other female veterans, and rebuild their family lives. Support from Affinity Federal Credit Union is critical to the success of these families and young students who would otherwise be unprepared for the new school year. We rely on groups like Affinity who share our commitment to these brave women to achieve our mission of family stabilization.”

Cornerstone Family Programs (formerly Family Service of Morris County), founded in 1813, and the Morristown Neighborhood House, founded in 1898, joined forces in 2013 to better serve the community. The programs, such as Operation Sisterhood, aim to build better lives and stronger communities by helping individuals, families and new immigrants who are confronting economic and other life challenges.
