CorePlus CU Sponsors Millionaire's Club Financial Education Program at Local High School

CorePlus Credit Union, Norwich, CT, has sponsored Connecticut's first Millionaire's Club financial education program at St. Bernard School, Uncasville, CT.  The Millionaire's Club provides financial literacy education and also teaches leadership and entrepreneurial skills.

CPCU will be an active sponsor by attending Club meetings, putting together field trips, and providing guest speakers and local professionals who work in the areas covered in the Millionaire's Club lesson plans.

The student Club members are excited and ready for a successful year learning how to play the Stock Market Game™, engaging in financial literacy topics, and learning about long and short term financial goals.

"Saint Bernard School students are so excited to be partnered with CorePlus Credit Union," said Andrew Lemire, Club Treasurer.  "Having a Millionaires Club will help us learn money management for our entire lives."

Reagan Mandeville, Club Secretary added, "It's exciting to learn about finances, stocks, and banking.  I'm happy that we have the guidance of CorePlus to help us.  I can't wait to see what the year brings the Millionaires Club."

"This will be a fun and productive year I am sure," explained Elizabeth Zachow, Community Relations Manager at CorePlus Credit Union.

The Millionaire's Club provides seed grants and a detailed curriculum, developed by the National Endowment for Financial Education. Students elect their own leaders and actively participate in programs including an entrepreneurial project that allows them to put into practice their newfound skills to generate funds for the Club.

Clubs are provided seed grants, detailed curriculum, and faculty/student materials at no charge. Sponsoring credit unions offer support through seed grants and guest speaking engagements.  Additional supplies add a fun, competitive edge to the Club's activities.  Millionaire's Clubs have produced State and National personal finance champions as well as first-place Stock Market Game™ competitors since the program was founded in 2013.

The program was developed by the CU Foundation MD|DC and is available to schools and credit unions nationwide at no charge through the Foundation's MillionairesClub.org site.  Millionaire's Clubs have been expanding rapidly.  Currently, over 1,900 students benefit annually from participation at 47 sites.
