STURGIS, S.D. - Committed to improving lives, Black Hills Federal Credit Union recently presented a $2,500 donation to the Meade County Fair Association in support of their fundraising campaign for the Meade County Event Center, a proposed multipurpose facility for youth, family and community-based events in Sturgis.

While the Meade County Fair Association plans to primarily utilize the space to hold 4-H activities, put on educational workshops and display exhibits during the Meade County Fair and Northern Hills Ag Fest, the facility will also be available for public activities, like wedding receptions, family reunions, etc. BHFCU’s donation will help the non-profit organization complete construction of the nearly 7,000 sq. foot building.

“The Meade County Fair and Northern Hills Ag Fest serve an important role in bringing our community together to highlight the agricultural, educational and leadership accomplishments of our youth and local producers,” said Don Weller, agricultural loan manager at Black Hills Federal Credit Union. “BHFCU is proud to support the Meade County Fair Association’s mission to provide Sturgis and the Northern Hills with a space to learn and participate in agricultural and community-based activities.”

The Meade County Fair Association hopes to begin construction on the event center, located at the Meade County Fairgrounds, near Sturgis Brown High School, in the summer of 2019.
